Treatment options

GLP-1 and GIP/GLP-1 medications. Weekly injections such as Wegovy (semaglutide) and Zepbound (tirzepatide) reduce appetite and help people lose significantly more weight than diet alone. Ozempic and Mounjaro contain the same active ingredients and are approved for type 2 diabetes. The doctor decides whether these medications are safe and appropriate for you, starts with a low dose and increases it gradually to limit side effects.

Other medications when GLP-1 treatment is not suitable or not covered.

Nutrition and activity. Protein-rich eating to protect muscle, practical meal planning and exercise you can keep up.

Follow-up. Regular visits to check progress, side effects and lab results, in the office or by telehealth.

Safety first

GLP-1 medications are not for everyone. They are not used in pregnancy or in people with certain thyroid cancers or a history of pancreatitis. Common side effects include nausea, constipation and reduced appetite, which usually improve over time. We monitor you throughout treatment.

We prescribe FDA-approved medications.
