Pre-Travel Medical Consultation

Dr. Marina Gafanovich offers comprehensive travel medicine consultations designed to support safe, well-prepared travel.

Consultations provide individualized medical guidance based on destination, duration of travel, altitude, activities, medical history, and special considerations such as pregnancy or long-haul flights.

For optimal planning, travel medicine consultations are ideally scheduled 3–4 weeks prior to departure. When travel plans arise on shorter notice, the practice will make every effort to accommodate last-minute consultations whenever possible.

What a Travel Medicine Consultation May Include

Review of medical history, current medications, and planned itinerary
Destination-specific health risk assessment
Guidance on food, water, insect exposure, altitude, and climate considerations
Vaccination recommendations and referrals when indicated
Prescription planning for travel-related medical needs

Prescription Medications for Travel

When clinically appropriate, prescriptions may be provided to support safe travel, including:

Malaria prophylaxis for destinations where indicated
Pregnancy-specific counseling, including malaria prophylaxis considerations when relevant
Preventive medication for altitude sickness for high-altitude destinations
Standby medications for specific situations, such as severe traveler’s diarrhea or acute respiratory symptoms
Short-term sleep-aid medications for long-haul flights when appropriate

Medication selection is individualized and guided by current clinical recommendations.
