Sexually transmitted infections are common, and many cause no symptoms at all. The only way to know is to get tested. At our Upper East Side office, STD testing is private, respectful and simple: blood and urine tests, a conversation with the doctor, and treatment if you need it.
You can choose a full panel or only specific tests. The doctor will help you decide based on your situation.
If a test is positive, Dr. Gafanovich explains what it means, prescribes treatment and tells you when to retest. Many infections, including chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis, are cured with antibiotics. Others, such as herpes, HIV or hepatitis B, are managed long-term, and we help you with next steps and referrals to specialists when needed.
We also discuss how to protect your partners and how to tell them, if you wish.
Some infections take time to show up on tests after exposure. If the exposure was recent, the doctor may recommend repeating a test later.
Your results are shared only with you. We follow federal privacy law (HIPAA) for all medical records.

Yes. Your results are part of your private medical record and are shared only with you.
No. We test with blood and urine samples only. If a swab is needed, we’ll refer you.
It depends on the infection. Chlamydia and gonorrhea can usually be detected within 1–2 weeks; HIV and syphilis may take several weeks. The doctor will tell you the right timing and whether to retest.
Many plans cover screening as preventive care. If you’d rather not use insurance, self-pay is available.
We explain your results, prescribe treatment the same day when possible and schedule follow-up testing.
